Whispers from the Wild: Come and Sit… Everything Can Wait

Discover the healing power of nature's quiet presence and learn to listen to its gentle whispers. Explore a personal reflection on connection, love, and the beauty of slowing down

A simple idea inspired it all…. That being in Nature is healing. And that even a few minutes in Nature can be magically transformational.

Two years ago, that idea whispered to me one quiet Sunday morning. I hit “send” on the very first 🌿Message from Nature, not knowing if anyone would read it, or if it would land where it was meant to land. I only knew that Nature speaks when we stop for even a moment and that maybe, just maybe, someone else needed that reminder too.

And here we are.

Two years of Sundays.
Two years of stories, tiny-but-mighty practices, and moments of reflection.
Two years of hearing back from you – your sweet notes, your shared experiences, the ways these messages have met you at just the right moment.

I can’t tell you how much that means to me. Every time you write to say, “This was exactly what I needed today,” I feel a little spark of wonder inside me. It reminds me that we’re all walking this path together — learning, healing, remembering.

I also want to take a moment to thank my wonderful assistant, Sarah Hennessey, who quietly and beautifully helps bring each 🌿Message into the world. She makes everything look good, run smoothly, and she does it with such heart. Sarah, I’m so grateful for you.

My gratitude also goes to Nature – our steady, generous source is always there, silently waiting for us. Nature holds us when we forget to hold ourselves, teaches without agenda, loves without condition, and heals without demanding anything in return.

If these Messages have meant anything to you, it’s because Nature is always speaking. I’m just translating the best I can.

So today, in honor of this little anniversary, here is the heart of the very first message and the foundation that still guides everything I write:

Come and sit a spell.
Everything can wait while you enjoy taking a few deep breaths.

Here’s a 3-minute tiny but mighty practice for you:

  • Step outside, even for a moment. Feel your feet on the ground. Let the air touch your skin.

  • Let Nature wrap herself around you the way she always does — quietly, lovingly, without hurry.

  • Stay as long as you like, or just a moment if that’s all you have.

Magic lives in those minutes.

Thank you for being here, for reading, for sharing your stories, for walking this path with me.

A Letter from Nature

Imagine nature is writing a letter to you, expressing its gratitude for the moments you've taken to connect with it. As you read the words, allow yourself to relax and receive the love and appreciation that Nature has for you.

"Dear one,

Thank you for stopping to listen. I've been trying to reach you, to remind you of the beauty and peace that surrounds you. In the quiet moments, I've been whispering gentle reminders of your worth, your strength, and your place in this world.

I've been here all along, quietly offering my presence, my wisdom, and my love. I've watched as you've struggled, as you've grown, and as you've learned to navigate the twists and turns of life.

Please take a moment each day to breathe, to notice, and to connect with me. Let the rustle of leaves, the song of birds, and the gentle breeze be your reminders of the beauty and wonder that surrounds you.

You're not alone. You're part of a larger web of life, connected to everything and everyone around you.

With love and appreciation,

Nature"

This letter is an invitation to slow down, listen, and connect with the natural world. May its words bring you peace, comfort, and a deeper sense of belonging to the world around you.

Now, it’s your turn! Go ahead and write nature a letter in return. Don’t hold back. No one else has to read this – It’s just between you and Nature.

Grab your pen and paper, and write something beautiful to Nature.
